Thermal insulation board is a common building energy-saving material, installed on the roof or exterior wall to block outdoor heat or cold air from entering the indoor environment, while maintaining a constant temperature, making the indoor environment more comfortable. At present, there are many types of insulation boards on the market, and the materials used are also different. Today, I will explain insulation boards and their insulation performance.

Glass Wool Insulation

1. Rock wool insulation board

Rock wool insulation board is mainly made of basalt, dolomite, and other raw materials. After being melted at high temperatures above 1450 ℃, it is an inorganic fiber product made by high-speed centrifugation using a four axis centrifuge. It has excellent fire safety performance, sound absorption performance, high thermal resistance, high hydrophobicity, chemical stability, corrosion resistance, and other characteristics. Rock wool belongs to Class A1 non combustible materials, with a maximum high temperature resistance of up to 800 ℃. It is widely used in insulation systems such as chemical plants, large kilns, and pipelines in industry, as well as wall insulation systems and roof insulation systems in buildings.

2. Glass wool insulation board

Glass wool insulation board is made of natural minerals such as quartz sand and dolomite as raw materials, which are melted at high temperature and centrifuged to form fibers. It is an inorganic fiber glass wool product with low thermal conductivity (0.032-0.035W/(m · k)), good insulation and sound absorption performance, corrosion resistance, chemical stability, moisture-proof and hydrophobic properties. Glass wool belongs to Class A non combustible material, with a usage temperature of -120~538 ℃. It is widely used in insulation, sound absorption and noise reduction of buildings, high-temperature and cold resistance of industrial equipment, and insulation and sound absorption of air conditioning systems.

3. Rubber insulation board

Rubber plastic insulation board is a mixed foam material made mainly of rubber and polyvinyl chloride (NBR/PVC) through a series of processes such as mixing and internal mixing. It has the advantages of low thermal conductivity, fire resistance, moisture resistance, vibration reduction and noise reduction, and is widely used in central air conditioning, construction, chemical, pharmaceutical, electrical and other related cold and hot medium pipelines or containers, which can achieve the effect of reducing cold and heat losses.

4. Extruded insulation board

Extruded insulation board is a hard board made mainly of polystyrene resin and continuously extruded and foamed through a special process. It has the characteristics of closed cell honeycomb structure, high pressure resistance, moisture resistance, and low thermal conductivity. It is widely used for insulation and heat preservation in interior and exterior walls of buildings, low-temperature cold storage, refrigerated vehicles, and other places.

The lower the thermal conductivity, the better the insulation performance. However, the thermal conductivity will vary with environmental temperature and specifications. When choosing insulation panels, you can choose materials with lower thermal conductivity. In addition, whether fire prevention, sound absorption, moisture-proof and waterproof factors are needed to be comprehensively considered.
